People vs. Jermayne Timmons

On May 29, 2008, 10 year-old Kathina Thomas was standing on her front steps on First Street, in broad-daylight, speaking to her mother when a stray bullet struck her causing her death.  The bullet was fired by 15 year-old Jermayne Timmons as a result of a gang-related altercation which occurred over two blocks away.  Despite witness intimidation and reluctance of witnesses to come forward, Mr. Timmons was convicted after trial of Murder in the Second Degree and was sentenced to 15-life on March 6, 2009.

The case was prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Dave Rossi.
