The Office of the Albany County District Attorney, local social service and government agencies, and members of the senior community have teamed up in order to reduce, prevent and address crimes against older adults, through the Seniors And Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) Initiative.

S.A.L.T. consists of several components, including; 1) community forums designed to provide education on the criminal justice system, the types of abuses commonly committed against seniors, methods of identifying abusive behaviors and patterns, and ways to safeguard against them; 2) empowerment trainings for senior citizens; and 3) employment of several policies and procedures distinct to The Office of the Albany County District Attorney, designed to eliminate the stigmas and complications associated with the criminal justice process.

If you suspect that you, or someone you know, are the victim of elder abuse in Albany County please contact our non-emergency S.A.L.T hotline at 518-447-SALT (7258).

In the case of an emergency situation, please contact 911 or your local police department.
