ALBANY, NY - Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that Chief Assistant District Attorney David M. Rossi has received the 2017 Robert M. Morgenthau Award from the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York (DAASNY). DAASNY presented the prestigious award at their annual Winter Conference in Manhattan in late January.
The award is named after legendary Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau. Each year the award is presented to four assistant district attorneys from four designated regions of the state, each of whom exemplify Morgenthau’s high standard of honesty, integrity, and commitment to justice.
“David is recognized by his peers and his partners in law enforcement for his hard work, his dedication to the legal process, and his commitment to one standard of justice for all,” said DA David Soares. “He is an exceptional trial attorney and a worthy recipient of this prestigious award.”
“Dave’s reputation for honesty and integrity are well-earned. He is a talented attorney and a role model for everyone in this office. I’m proud to call him my friend and colleague,” commented Special Counsel Christopher D. Horn.
David M Rossi, a 46 year-old Albany County resident, currently serves as the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Albany County. David began his career with the Albany County District Attorney’s Office as a college intern. After graduation from Albany Law School in 1998 he was hired as an Assistant District Attorney assigned to the Appeals Unit. Since that time David served as the Bureau Chief of the Joint Special Victims and Homicide Unit where he handled sex crimes and prosecuted many murder cases. He has worked under three different Albany County District Attorneys and has had numerous roles throughout the office.
David Rossi is active in the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York and coordinates training sessions on technical and legal subjects. Dave has been integral to DAASNY’s Best Practice’s Committee and played a significant role in the discussions surrounding the Discovery Reform Proposal. Dave also has frequently lectured at and coordinated statewide trainings with the New York Prosecutors Training Institute.
“I am sincerely humbled by this award,” commented David Rossi. “I thank my colleagues at DAASNY and the many associates in the legal profession that I am honored to work with each day.”
This is not the first time that this prestigious award has been given to a member of the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. In 2015, Special Counsel Christopher D. Horn also received the Morgenthau Award and was recognized for his efforts on behalf of the legal community.
