SALT Presentations for Elder Abuse Awareness

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that members of the Albany County District Attorney’s Office Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) team will be speaking about Elder Abuse Awareness during the month of June at the following locations and times:

Cohoes Senior Center - June 7th, 12:30 PM

Westview Senior Center – June 15th, 10:00 AM

Townsend Park Homes – June 19th, 10:00 AM

Wyman Osterhout Community Center – June 21st, 1:00 PM

Green Island Community Center – June 28th, 4:00 PM

“Seniors are one of the most sought after targets for victimization by criminal opportunists. As law enforcement and service providers, we cannot allow our elders to become victims of anyone, especially those they love and trust. Any abuse of older adults is a serious crime, and my office – through the Seniors And Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) initiative – is prepared to advocate and seek justice on their behalf. However, elder abuse is a highly under-recognized problem with devastating consequences. We come together during the month of June to spread awareness of this problem and foster action in the fight against elder abuse,” said DA David Soares. “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day will be June 15, 2017. Please call our SALT Team if you are interested in scheduling a speaking engagement for seniors in your community.”
