“Seniors are one of the most sought after targets for victimization by criminal opportunists. As law enforcement and service providers, we cannot allow our elders to become victims of anyone, especially those they love and trust. Any abuse of older adults is a serious crime, and my office – through the Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (S.A.L.T.) initiative – is prepared to advocate and seek justice on their behalf. However, elder abuse is a highly under-recognized problem with devastating consequences. We come together during the month of June to spread awareness of this problem and foster action in the fight against elder abuse,” said Albany County DA David Soares. “World Elder Abuse Awareness Day will be on Friday, June 15, 2018. Please call our S.A.L.T. Team if you are interested in scheduling a speaking engagement for seniors in your community.”
