 Guilty Plea to Albany Knife Assault Before Trial 

 

 

 

 

 

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JARRELL HOWARD, 36, of Watervliet, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Violent Felony, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this afternoon.


On April 8, 2016, at approximately 7:00 A.M., in the area of Lexington Avenue and Elk Street in the City of Albany, HOWARD assisted Co-Defendant ALFREDO WRIGHT who stabbed a serrated hunting knife into the torso of a male that was known to him during a physical altercation.  The serrated blade of the knife caused organ damage to the victim and had to be surgically removed.


On October 26, 2016, ALFREDO WRIGHT was sentenced to 10 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision, for his role in the stabbing.


Trial against HOWARD was slated to begin on March 19, 2017.


HOWARD faces 6 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision, when sentenced on April 13, 2017.
