 7 Year Prison Sentence For Watervliet Burglar 






ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that TYSHAWN WALKER, 22, of Bronx, NY,  was sentenced to 7 1/ 2 years in State Prison, before the Honorable Deborah Young in Albany County Court this morning.


On December 1, 2016, WALKER was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony.


On December 29, 2015, at approximately 8:51 P.M., WALKER illegally entered an apartment on 24th Street in the City of Watervliet.  A neighbor noticed the intrusion and called 911 to report a burglary in progress.  Members of the Watervliet Police Department responded and observed the defendant leaving the scene.  WALKER saw the police officers, dropped items that he had just stolen from the residence, and led the officers on a brief foot chase.  WALKER was quickly apprehended when officers found him hiding in a nearby backyard. 


Assistant District Attorney Michael Wetmore prosecuted this case.
