Alleged Cohoes Shooter Arraigned 

 

 

 

 

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that CHRISTOPHER COWAN, 24, of Cohoes, was arraigned before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning.

An Albany County Grand Jury previously handed up an indictment charging COWAN with (1) Count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B Violent Felony, (1) Count of Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, a Class B Armed Violent Felony, (1) Count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a Class C Armed Violent Felony, (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Armed Violent Felony, and (1) Count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Armed Violent Felony.

The indictment alleges that on June 4, 2017, at approximately 3:10 P.M., COWAN allegedly possessed a loaded firearm and fired said weapon at a person that was known to him on Congress Street in the City of Cohoes in an attempt to cause the death of that individual. The shooting resulted in physical injury to the victim, who was treated and survived.

COWAN pleaded not guilty to the charges today and was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing. No new court appearance dates have been scheduled at this time.
