 7 Year Sentence in Sexual Assault Case  

 

 

 

 

 

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that MALIK DAWSON, 20, of Cohoes, was sentenced to 7 years in State Prison, to be followed by 10 years of Post Release Supervision, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County this morning. Upon release, DAWSON will have to register as a sex offender.

On April 24, 2017 DAWSON was found guilty of (1) Count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Felony.

A jury found that on May 10, 2016, at approximately 1:00 P.M. in a garage located in the area of Livingston Avenue in the City of Albany, DAWSON did engage in forcible sexual activity with a female individual.

Assistant District Attorney Matthew Schrantz of the Special Victims Unit prosecuted this case.
