Sentencing in Forged Instrument Case

 

 

 

 

ALBANY, NY – ALBANY, NY- District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that CHRISTINA CABRERA, 27, of Troy, was sentenced to 2 ½ to 5 Years in State Prison, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this afternoon.

On July 19, 2017, CABRERA pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

Between July 11, 2016 and October 18, 2016, in the Town of Colonie, in the city of Albany, CABRERA assumed the identity of victims from different states by using their social security numbers to open credit card accounts at multiple retail locations through out Albany County including Boscovs, Home Depot, GAP, Kohls, and Victoria’s Secret. CABRERA then used these credit cards to unlawfully purchase gift cards and merchandise amounting to over $4,000.

CABRERA was also order to pay restitution to the stores in the amount of $4,618.13.

Assistant District Attorney Shadi Masri of the Financial Crimes Unit prosecuted this case.
