    Guilty Plea in 2016 Thanksgiving Day Murder   

 

 

 

 

 

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that KAREEM BLACKNALL, 31, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B Violent Felony, before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin in Albany County Supreme Court this morning. 


On November 24, 2016, while inside an establishment located at 77 Central Avenue, in the City of Albany, BLACKNALL did possess a loaded firearm and caused the death of another individual, identified as Wendell Hill. BLACKNALL did recklessly engage in conduct which created a grave risk of death to another.

Additionally, on December 2, 2016, while in the area of South Pearl and Herkimer Streets, in the City of Albany, BLACKNALL did attempt to escape from police custody.


BLACKNALL faces up to 25 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post Release Supervision, when sentenced on December 7, 2017. 


General Felony Bureau Chief Steven Sharp prosecuted this case.
