Zone 5 Ex-Bookkeeper Sentenced




 

 

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that DAWN RICCIARDI, 40, of Troy, NY, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class D Violent Felony, and JASON KENNEDY, 37, of Troy, NY, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class C Armed Violent Felony, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning. 

On October 16, 2017, at approximately 6:50 PM, at 911 Central Avenue (Sally Beauty Supply), in the City of Albany, KENNEDY did forcibly steal money from Sally Beauty Supply. KENNEDY did conspire with RICCIARDI to commit an armed robbery. They were staying at the Motel 6 in Watervliet, and walked to Westgate Plaza, where KENNEDY entered the store with a bb gun that looked real, pointed it at the clerk’s face and demanded money. He stated, “Give me everything in the register and don’t tell anyone or I am going to KILL you”. RICCIARDI stayed outside of the store acting as a look out. RICCIARDI and KENNEDY gave full confessions to the crime. 

RICCIARDI faces up to 3 years in State Prison, to be followed by 3 years of Post-Release Supervision when sentenced on JANUARY 3, 2018.

KENNEDY faces up to 6 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, when sentenced on JANUARY 3, 2018

District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that MICHELLE QUENTIN, 54, of Troy, was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in State Prison, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning. 

On September 14, 2017, QUENTIN pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony, (2) Counts of Criminal Tax Fraud in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, (2) Counts of Criminal Tax Fraud in the Fourth Degree, a Class E Felony, and (2) Counts of Forgery in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.

Between April 2009 and June 2016, at 25 Monroe Street, in the City of Albany, QUENTIN did falsify and cash more than 1,000 unauthorized company checks. The checks were in varying amounts and were not part of her authorized compensation. QUENTIN spent the majority of the cashed checks, totaling to over $800,000. QUENTIN made false entries in the business records of Zone 5, Inc. in an effort to cover her tracks.

Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Mastaitis of the Financial Crimes Unit prosecuted this case.
