Guilty Verdict in Highway DWAI Case




ALBANY, NY- District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that SHADFORD CONNERS, 39, of Albany, was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs or of Alcohol and Drugs, an Unclassified Misdemeanor, before the Honorable Gary Stiglmeier in Albany City Court yesterday afternoon.

A jury found that on October 4, 2016, at Exit 24 of the New York State Thruway, CONNERS drove a vehicle while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol. During the traffic stop a NYS Trooper found an open container in the front seat of CONNERS’ vehicle. After failing field sobriety tests, the officer determined CONNERS was impaired and he was taken into custody. At the time of the incident CONNERS had a blood alcohol content of .03 as well as marihuana in his system.

CONNERS was subsequently arrested in Saratoga County in a separate matter while this case was pending, and was convicted of (1) Count of Driving While Ability Impaired, a Misdemeanor, in Clifton Park on May 5, 2017.

CONNERS faces a sentence of up to one year in Albany County Jail when sentenced on May 2, 2018.
