Guilty Plea for Illegal Weapon Possession 




ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOSEPH FARMER, 40, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Armed Felony, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court this afternoon.

On March 5, 2018, in a residence on Oneida Terrace in the City of Albany, members of the Albany Police Department executed a search warrant at FARMER’S home, where they recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun and cocaine, along with other personal effects belonging to him. Upon questioning, FARMER admitted to knowing about the firearm and cocaine.

FARMER faces 8 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, when sentenced on August 24, 2018. 

Assistant District Attorney Brittany Grome is handling the prosecution of this case.
