Guilty Verdict in Elk Street Murder Case




ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that STEPHAN HARRIS, 23, of Albany, was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B Felony, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court yesterday evening.

The jury found that on May 20, 2017, at approximately 1:00 A.M., on Elk Street in the City of Albany, HARRIS caused the death of another person who was known to him by stabbing the victim in the stomach following a verbal altercation.

HARRIS faces up to 25 years in State Prison when sentenced on July 20, 2018.

Bureau Chief Shannon Corbitt and Assistant District Attorney Brittany Grome of the Major Offense Unit handled the prosecution of this case.
