 Shawn Dixon Sentenced for DWI

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that SHAWN DIXON, 31, of Kingston, was sentenced to 3 years of Probation before visiting Judge Thomas Marcelle in Albany City Court this morning. DIXON resigned from the Albany Police Department as part of the plea agreement and is required to install and maintain an Interlock Ignition Device for 3 years on any vehicle he owns or operates.

Additionally, DIXON was ordered by the court to pay restitution for the damage to the power transformer, attend a Victim Impact Panel and Impaired Driver Program, be subject to a revocation of his driver’s license for a minimum of 6 months, subject to Department of Motor Vehicles, and pay a $500 fine and mandatory court fees.

On March 20, 2018, DIXON pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor.

On December 20, 2017, at approximately 5:00 A.M., members of the Albany Police Department responded to the area of Park Avenue and Eagle Street for a report of a one car motor vehicle crash in which a car stuck a utility transformer. The vehicle was left at the scene unoccupied.

DIXON was located nearby and after an investigation it was determined that DIXON was operating the motor vehicle in an intoxicated state at the time of the crash.

Vehicular Crimes Bureau Chief Mary Tanner-Richter prosecuted this case.
