Guilty Plea in Albany Shooting Case




ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that LESHAWN KITTLE, 25, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a Class C Armed Violent Felony, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning.

On January 25, 2018, at approximately 6:35 P.M., in the area of Livingston Avenue in the City of Albany, KITTLE engaged in a verbal dispute with a person who was known to him. KITTLE then took out a 9MM semi-automatic pistol and shot at the victim, striking him in the leg. The victim was treated and survived. At the time of this incident, KITTLE was under the supervision of the Department of Corrections Community Supervision from a previous violent offense and was wearing a court-ordered ankle monitor bracelet.

KITTLE faces 7 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, when sentenced on August 8, 2018.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato of the Major Offense Unit is handling the prosecution of this case.
