25 Year Sentence in Elk Street Homicide


 

 

 

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that STEPHAN HARRIS, 23, of Albany, was sentenced to 25 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this morning.

On May 14, 2018, HARRIS was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B Felony.

The jury found that on May 20, 2017, at approximately 1:00 A.M., on Elk Street in the City of Albany, HARRIS caused the death of another person who was known to him by stabbing the victim in the stomach following a verbal altercation.

Major Offense Bureau Chief Shannon Corbitt handled the prosecution of this case.
