Former Bus Driver Sentenced in

Online Child Pornography Case

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that DAVID HAVERLY, 67, of Albany, was sentenced to 2 years in State Prison, to be followed by 10 years of Post-Release Supervision, before Judge Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court today. HAVERLY will also be mandated to register as a Sex Offender.

HAVERLY previously pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Promoting a Sexual Performance by a Child as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a Class D Felony.

An investigation uncovered that on November 12, 2016, HAVERLY procured a digital photograph of a performance of a child in a sexual situation by utilizing an online chatroom. The activity triggered an alert to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and was reported to law enforcement. A subsequent search of HAVERLY’s computer uncovered several other images of videos of children in sexual pornographic situations. The guilty plea today fully covers and satisfies all charges stemming from that investigation.

At the time of the incident HAVERLY was an employee of the Bethlehem Central School District Department of Transportation.

Assistant District Attorney Ariel Fallon of the Special Victims Unit prosecuted this case.
