  Arraignment in Worker’s Compensation

Grand Larceny Case

ALBANY, NY- District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOSEPH TORRE, 51, of East Greenbush, NY, was arraigned on (1) Count of Grand Larceny in the Second Degree, a Class C Felony, and (1) Count of Perjury in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this afternoon.

A sealed indictment returned by an Albany County Grand Jury alleges that between February 4, 2008 and May 8, 2015, TORRE did steal property from the New York State Insurance Fund located at 1 Watervliet Avenue Extension in the County of Albany. Specifically, TORRE allegedly fraudulently received payments in the amount of $151,600.00 for Worker’s Compensation while he was employed as an owner at Unlimited Construction Services, LLC.

Additionally, on May 8, 2015, at a hearing with the New York State Compensation Board in the Village of Menands, TORRE did allegedly swear under oath that he was not employed when in fact he had been employed.

TORRE pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on his own recognizance by the Court. No future appearance dates have been scheduled at this time.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Wetmore of the Financial Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution of this case.
