  Sentencing in September 2018 Homicide Case


ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that DAYTWAN PERKINS, 38, of Albany, was sentenced to 20 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post- Release Supervision, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this morning for his role in a homicide that took place in September of 2018 on North Swan Street in the City of Albany.

On March 25, 2019, PERKINS pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, a Class B Violent Felony.

On September 11, 2018, at approximately 12:08 a.m., PERKINS, with the intent to cause serious physical injury to the victim, caused the death of Barry Tyce, Jr. inside of 55 ½ North Swan Street in the City of Albany by means of shooting him with a loaded pistol.

Street Crimes Unit Bureau Chief Jessica Blain-Lewis and Assistant District Attorney Megan Spillane handled the prosecution of this case.
