  Sentencing in Colonie Grand Larceny Case 


ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOHN WATSON, 37, of Albany, was sentenced to 3 to 6 years in State Prison, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court this morning.

On May 15, 2019, WATSON pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony.

On October 20, 2018, in the vicinity of 1912 Central Avenue in the Town of Colonie, WATSON stole property that exceeded the value of $3,000.00. Specifically, on the above stated date and location, WATSON stole a utility truck owned by the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services worth approximately $100,000.00.

At the time of this incident, WATSON was released under the supervision of Parole after serving a 12 year sentence for an arson conviction.

Assistant District Attorney Kaleigh Henderson handled the prosecution of this case.
