Guilty Plea in Residential Burglary Case

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOHN THAXTON, aka TAYVON JOHNSON, 19, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (2) Counts of Burglary in the Second Degree, each Class C Violent Felonies, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this morning. This guilty plea is in full satisfaction of (5) five separate residential burglaries in the City of Albany attributable to this defendant.

On separate dates throughout the month of June in 2018, THAXTON did knowingly and unlawfully enter separate buildings in the City of Albany with the intent to commit a crime therein. Specifically, on June 4, 2018 and June 11, 2018, THAXTON burglarized two separate residences in the City of Albany. Fingerprint evidence identified THAXTON at the scene of the above stated crimes.

THAXTON faces up to 25 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, when sentenced on November 8, 2019. This sentence will run concurrent to the sentence set to be imposed on a future date for his conviction in a separate violent robbery case.
