   Guilty Verdict after Shooting

That Injured Victim


ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JEFFREY WALKER, 24, of Troy, was found guilty after a jury trial before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court yesterday afternoon for his role in a shooting that took place in the City of Albany on October 7, 2018.

After hearing witness testimony and reviewing evidence at trial, the jury found WALKER guilty of (1) Count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Armed Violent Felony, (1) Count of Criminal Use of a Firearm in the First Degree, a Class B Felony, and (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Violent Felony.

On or about October 7, 2018, at approximately 5:40 A.M., near the area of Clinton Avenue and Lark Street in the City of Albany, WALKER intentionally caused serious physical injury to an adult male that was known to him by means of shooting him with an illegally possessed firearm. The victim was struck in the shoulder and survived the incident after receiving medical attention.

WALKER was remanded after the verdict and remains in custody at the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail. WALKER faces a potential of up to 30 years in State Prison when sentenced on December 10, 2019.
