Attempted Kidnapping and Sex Abuse



ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that HARRY BONILLA, 33, of Albany, was sentenced to a total of (20) years in State Prison, to be followed by (20) years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this morning.

On February 6, 2020, BONILLA was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a Class B Felony, (1) Count of Sex Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, and (1) Count of Assault in the Third Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor,

After hearing testimony and reviewing evidence during trial, the jury concluded that on December 4, 2018, while in near the corner of Robin Street and Sheridan Avenue in the City of Albany, BONILLA attempted to abduct a (16) year old girl who was not known to him, for the purposes of his own sexual gratification. BONILLA approached the girl and grabbed her in a sexual manner while trying to lure her into his vehicle. The girl was able to fight back and get away. At the time of the incident BONILLA was a registered Level 3 Sex Offender based previous attempted abduction convictions.
