2 to 6 Years in State Prison for Attempted Sex

 

Trafficking

 

 

 


 

 

ALBANY, NY- District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOHN HAMMOND, 38, of Providence, Rhode Island, was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in State Prison before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court this afternoon.

On April 29, 2014, HAMMOND pleaded guilty of (1) Count of Attempted Sex Trafficking, a Class C Felony.

On August 22, 2012 in the Town of Colonie, the defendant did intentionally attempt to compel a victim to engage in acts of prostitution to retire or repay a purported debt while the victim was under the influence of narcotics.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Chantelle Cleary of the Special Victims Unit.
