  Jury Finds Driver Guilty in Speed Chase Case


ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that AMANDA DENEGAR, 28, of Schenectady, NY, was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree, a Class E Felony, and (1) Count of Driving While Ability Impaired, an Infraction, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court yesterday afternoon.

An Albany County jury found that on March 19, 2018, at approximately 11:47 P.M., in the area of 1614 Central Avenue in the Town of Colonie, officers of the Colonie Police Department began to pursue a speeding vehicle in which DENEGAR was the driver. During the pursuit, the speed of DENEGAR’S vehicle exceeded 60 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. DENEGAR was apprehended at the scene and refused chemical testing at the station.

In 2017, DENEGAR was convicted of driving while intoxicated resulting in the revocation of her driver’s license. At the time of this incident, DENEGAR drove her vehicle while knowing her license was revoked.

DENEGAR faces 1 1/3 to 4 years in State Prison when sentenced on June 13, 2019.
