Guilty Verdict in Bank Robbery Trial

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that RICKY HINES, 41, of Gloversville, NY, was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Robbery in the Second Degree, a Class C Violent Felony, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court this morning.

After thorough deliberation, the jury found that on April 25, 2018, at approximately 9:50 AM, at 911 Central Avenue, M & T Bank in the City of Albany, HINES pointed a weapon at a bank teller and demanded money. HINES took approximately $361.00 in cash and fled the scene. The stolen cash contained a GPS device that led officers to the vicinity of Swinburne Park near North Manning Boulevard. At this location, officers of Albany Police Department found HINES in possession of the stolen marked bills from the bank, the GPS device on the bills, and a black imitation pistol in his waistband.

If deemed a mandatory, persistent, violent felon based on his previous criminal history, HINES faces up to 15 years to Life in State Prison when sentenced on April 29, 2019.

Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Mastaitis of the Financial Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution of this case.
