Whenever a life is lost to a violent crime in Albany County, it is vital that all law enforcement entities come together to ensure justice for the entire community.  Upon learning of a homicide, the police contact the Office of the District Attorney and an assistant responds to the crime scene.  Our office immediately begins working with law enforcement to ensure that a case is built not only to charge someone with the crime, but to make sure that we can prove the case to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt.  Our victim advocates immediately begin forming bonds with the family of the victim which lasts throughout the long court process and continues beyond the trial.
