Guilty Verdict in Wooden Cane Assault Case

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that RICHARD VASQUEZ, 52, of Albany, was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Violent Felony, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court late yesterday afternoon.

After hearing testimony and reviewing evidence presented at trial this week, the jury concluded that on February 4, 2019, at approximately 8:40 P.M., VASQUEZ repeatedly struck an adult male that was not known to him with a wooden cane while on the sidewalk on Madison Avenue in the City of Albany.
