ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that THOMAS CAULFIELD, 52, of Colonie, was sentenced to 25 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning.
On May 23, 2019, CAULFIELD pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B Violent Felony, (1) Count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Felony, (1) Count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt, a Class D Felony, and (2) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, each Class A Misdemeanors.
On August 30, 2018, while at a salon located on Central Avenue in the Town of Colonie, CAULFIELD, who was armed with a knife and metal knuckles, did stab a victim who was known to him with said knife causing serious physical injury that required intensive lifesaving emergency surgery. These actions did violate a previously served No Contact Order of Protection issued to this defendant which prohibited him from contacting this victim.
Special Victims Unit Bureau Chief Shannon Sarfoh is handling the prosecution of this case.
