Guilty Plea for August 2022 Shooting Death

35-year-old Sadiem Wood of Albany pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree for the death of Kareem Collier.

ALBANY, NY – 35-year-old Sadiem Wood of Albany pleaded guilty to Manslaughter in the Second Degree before the Hon. William Little in Albany County Court this morning.


The original 4-count indictment, handed up on January 13, 2023, charged Wood with Murder in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.


Specifically, the indictment alleged that on or about August 2, 2022, during the overnight hours, at an address on Central Avenue in the City of Albany, Wood caused the death of Kareem Collier. Additionally, Wood was accused of possessing an illegal, loaded firearm on the same day, in the same location.


Sentencing is scheduled for June 4, 2024. Wood faces an indeterminate term of 7 ½ to 15 years in State Prison.


Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato, the bureau chief of the Major Crimes Unit, is handling the prosecution of this case.
