Sentencing for Albany Med Ring Theft

March 25, 2024

36-year-old Caitlin Mullaney of Slingerlands was sentenced to 6 months in the Albany County Jail, followed by 5 years on Felony Probation.

Albany, NY – 36-year-old Caitlin Mullaney of Slingerlands was sentenced to 6 months in the Albany County Jail, followed by 5 years on Felony Probation before the Hon. Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court this morning. Today’s sentence comes after her January 19, 2024 plea of guilty to One Count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.

The indictment, handed up on August 23, 2023, alleged that on or about July 17, 2023, while at Albany Medical Center, Mullaney stole a ring from a victim.

The victim’s daughter, Kim Fitzpatrick-Perrella, said:

“My mom and I talked at length shortly before her death about the missing ring, and the court dates that I did attend while she was still alive. Her dying wish was that I would get the ring back, her only item of value left before she died, to wear on my finger, for the rest of my life, to remember her by… Mom did pass on September 11th, and it wasn’t until the day before the very first holiday without her, that I had to review evidence that the ring was in fact melted down, and gone forever for a lousy $120… I am glad that regardless of the reason, Caitlin did finally admit to what she did, and deep in my heart, I hope that she is actually sorry.”

Assistant District Attorney Marissa Olsen handled the prosecution of this case.
