Arraignment for February 2024 Homicide

34-year-old Keron Payne of Albany pleaded not guilty to One Count of Murder in the Second Degree and One Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree.

Albany, NY – 34-year-old Keron Payne of Albany pleaded not guilty to One Count of Murder in the Second Degree and One Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree, before the Hon. William Little in Albany County Court this morning.


The indictment alleges that on or about February 23, 2024, while at an address on Clinton Avenue in the City of Albany, Payne intentionally caused the death of Jieshi Williams.


The defendant was remanded, and will next appear in court on April 23, 2024 at 9:30 a.m.


Assistant District Attorney Jennifer McCanney, the bureau chief of the Local Courts Unit, is handling the prosecution of this case.


All parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
