Guilty Plea for Repeat Cell Phone Store Burglar

Sentencing is scheduled for June 17, 2024. Buggs faces 3.5 to 7 years in State Prison.

Albany, NY – 36-year-old Derrick Buggs of Albany pleaded guilty to Two Counts of Burglary in the Third Degree before the Hon. Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court this morning.


A Superior Court Information alleged that on March 10, 2024, the defendant broke into the T-Mobile store at 465 Central Avenue, causing approximately $1,500 in damage, and stole 2 cash registers, worth a combined total of approximately $600. On the following day, March 11, 2024, Buggs broke into the same building, and stole approximately $200 worth of cell phones.


Sentencing is scheduled for June 17, 2024. Buggs faces 3.5 to 7 years in State Prison.


Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato, the Bureau Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, is handling the prosecution of this case.
