10 Years in Albany Gun Case

Simmons was accused of fleeing a traffic stop in the area of Lark and Colonie Streets in the City of Albany, crashing his vehicle after losing control, then fleeing on foot and discarding an illegal handgun
Albany, NY – 25-year-old Tony Simmons of Albany was sentenced to 10 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision before the Hon. Roger McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court on Friday, April 12, 2024.
On February 15, 2024, Simmons pleaded guilty to One Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. That plea satisfied the full indictment, which also included charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer.
Specifically, on April 14, 2023, Simmons was accused of fleeing a traffic stop in the area of Lark and Colonie Streets in the City of Albany, crashing his vehicle after losing control, then fleeing on foot and discarding an illegal handgun
Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato, the Bureau Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, handled the prosecution of this case.
