Arraignment in July 2022 Homicide

The indictment alleged that on or about July 3rd 2022, at approximately 1:26 p.m. in the area of 260 North Pearl Street in the City of Albany, Purvis caused the death of Dominique Eley by shooting her with a pistol.

Albany, NY – 32-year-old Tyshaun Purvis of Troy was convicted of One Count of Murder in the Second Degree, One Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, and One Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, following a nearly two-week jury trial before the Hon. William Little in Albany County Court this afternoon.


The indictment alleged that on or about July 3rd 2022, at approximately 1:26 p.m. in the area of 260 North Pearl Street in the City of Albany, Purvis caused the death of Dominique Eley by shooting her with a pistol.


Purvis was remanded following the verdict, and is scheduled to be sentenced on July 24, 2024.


Assistant District Attorney Ryan Carty, ADA Jacob Sheingold, and Chief Assistant District Attorney Cheryl Fowler are handling the prosecution of this case.


All parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
