Sentencing in Theft/Car Stripping Case

The Superior Court Information charged Chambers with stealing the wheels and tires from multiple vehicles at dealerships in the area.

ALBANY, NY – 50-year-old Sherman Chambers of Albany was sentenced to a term of 3.5 to 7 years in State Prison as a Predicate Felon before the Hon. Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court on Tuesday, May 28, 2024.


That resolution comes after he pleaded guilty to a Superior Court Information, which charged the defendant with One Count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, one Count of Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree, and One Count of Auto Stripping in the Third Degree. That plea also satisfied two other open cases.


The Superior Court Information charged Chambers with stealing the wheels and tires from multiple vehicles at dealerships in the area. The specifics are as follows:

-On April 16, 2023, he stole four wheels and tires from a vehicle at Lia Honda

-On August 20, 2023, he did the same with one vehicle at Nemer Volkswagen

-On August 28, 2023, he did the same with one vehicle at Audi Albany

-On September 3, 2023, he did the same with another vehicle at Audi Albany


Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth Jektyan handled the prosecution of this case.


All parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
