Guilty Verdict in Attempted Murder Case

Specifically, the defendant was accused of firing a gun at the victim, in an attempt to cause his death.

Albany, NY – 42-year-old Christian Maldonado of Queensbury was convicted of One Count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and One Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree before the Hon. Roger McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court late this afternoon.


An indictment, handed up on May 9, 2023, alleges that on or about April 27, 2023, in the area of Lark and Orange Streets in the City of Albany, Maldonado attempted to cause the death of another person, and possessed an illegal, loaded firearm.


Specifically, the defendant was accused of firing a gun at the victim, in an attempt to cause his death.


Sentencing is scheduled for April 5, 2024. Maldonado faces up to 25 years to Life in prison as a potential Persistent Predicate Felon.


Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon and Trial Assistant Katelyn Kaczkowski handled the prosecution of this case.
