8 Years for Albany Shots Fired Case

The plea fully satisfies the indictment, which also included Three Counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and One Count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
ALBANY, NY – 19-year-old Anthony Carter of Albany was sentenced to a determinate term of 8 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision before the Hon. William Little in Albany County Court this morning.
Today’s sentence comes after Carter’s November 28, 2023 guilty plea to One Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. The plea fully satisfies the indictment, which also included Three Counts of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, and One Count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree.
The indictment alleged that on or about March 17, 2023, in the area of Orange and Robin Streets in the City of Albany, the defendant, while either acting alone or in concert with others, attempted to cause the death of three individuals with an illegal gun. Specifically, the defendant shot at an occupied van with three people inside.
In addition to his prison sentence, three No-Contact orders of protection were issued on behalf of the victims.
Assistant District Attorney Jessica Blain-Lewis, the Chief of the Homicide and Violent Crimes Bureau, handled the prosecution of this case.
All parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
