Guilty Verdict in Assault Weapon/Pistol Case

The indictment alleged that on or about September 3, 2023, while in the area of 475 South Pearl Street in the City of Albany, the defendant had both a pistol, and an assault weapon in his possession illegally.

Albany, NY – 52-year-old James Ford of Albany was convicted of Two Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree following a jury trial before the Hon. William Little in Albany County Court this morning.


The indictment alleged that on or about September 3, 2023, while in the area of 475 South Pearl Street in the City of Albany, the defendant had both a pistol, and an assault weapon in his possession illegally.


Sentencing is scheduled for August 23, 2024.


Assistant District Attorney William Andrews, and Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato, the Bureau Chief of the Major Crimes Unit, handled the prosecution of this case.


All parties are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty
