Gun Case Pleads the Morning of Trial

The indictment alleged that on or about April 30, 2023, Leigh possessed a loaded and operable firearm in the area of Clinton Avenue and Quail Street in the City of Albany.
Albany, NY – 27-year-old Myaire Leigh, formerly of Albany, pleaded guilty to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Intimidating a Witness in the Third Degree before the Hon. Roger McDonough this morning, just before a jury trial was scheduled to begin.
The indictment alleged that on or about April 30, 2023, Leigh possessed a loaded and operable firearm in the area of Clinton Avenue and Quail Street in the City of Albany. Additionally, the defendant was accused of compelling, or attempting to compel a person with information about a crime, to withhold that information.
Sentencing is scheduled for September 6, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
Assistant District Attorneys Bryanne Perlanski and Ryan Carty are handling the prosecution of this case.
