Albany, NY – 32-year-old Dario Lewis of Albany was sentenced to 25 years in State Prison, followed by 5 years of post-release supervision before the Hon. Thomas Marcelle in Albany County Supreme Court this morning.

On May 3, 2024, Lewis pleaded Guilty to One Count of Manslaughter in the First Degree. As a part of that plea, Lewis admitted that on November 11, 2023, he intended to cause serious physical injury to Elijah Thompson which caused his death.

Judge Marcelle said:

“You don’t even begin to understand the horror of taking another human being’s life. It almost seems to me like you feel that it was some type of game, no big deal… That isn’t life, that’s not how life is supposed to be conducted. For the next quarter of a century, you’ll be able to contemplate, hopefully, the horror which you imposed upon the victim’s family”

Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon and Trial Assistant Katelyn Kaczkowski handled the prosecution of this case.
