July 26, 2024

The indictment alleged that on or about April 9, 2023, while at an address on Morris Street in the City of Albany, Anderson intentionally caused the death of 60-year-old Alonzo Ford.

Albany, NY – 38-year-old Isaiah Anderson of Troy was sentenced to an indeterminate term of 25 years to Life in State Prison as a Predicate Felon before the Hon. Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court this afternoon. On May 23, 2024, Anderson was convicted of One Count of Murder in the Second Degree, and One Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree following a jury trial.

The indictment alleged that on or about April 9, 2023, while at an address on Morris Street in the City of Albany, Anderson intentionally caused the death of 60-year-old Alonzo Ford. The defendant also possessed an illegal, loaded firearm on the same date and at the same location.

Tanya Ford, the victim’s sister, said:

“The man adored his family, yet, made others feel like family… he kept that same love throughout the years, and if anything that only grew. He was a man that loved his wife dearly, and everyone that knew him, would always comment on their love as a couple. He was our example of love, strength, and how to treat others, as well as one another… Our loss could not be put into words on a sheet of paper.”

Aliya Vasquez, the victim’s niece, said:

“The impact on my family has been intense. It can be seen in the eyes of his children, his wife, and his siblings. We are hurt that this happened, and even more hurt that it was done by someone we called nephew, brother, cousin.”

Tyiesha Ford, the victim’s wife, said:

“The murder of my husband Lonnie greatly traumatized me. Losing my soulmate in such a horrific way has negatively affected me, and my desire to fully live. The traumatic events of that morning have played over and over in my mind for the last 15 months… I continue to have anxiety about being in my own home, the home that Lonnie and I lived in together for 20 years.”

Judge Ackerman said:

“You made a horrific and evil choice to murder Alonzo Ford in his own home, while reciting his morning prayers… You took the life of a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to so many. Not only did you commit this heinous act, by taking Alonzo Ford out of this world, you have sentenced countless family and friends of Alonzo to a lifetime of suffering and loss”

Assistant District Attorney Caroline Murray, the Bureau Chief of the Special Victims Unit, and ADA Ariel Fallon handled the prosecution of this case.
